Unfortunately, as in most places, muggings can happen, so keep photocopies/electronic copies (in a Cloud – not on a device which may be stolen!) of all important documents. Equally, never leave your worldly goods in a car – even hidden away. Wherever you are – even if you are on an idyllic Caribbean island – be aware of your surroundings. Do not make yourself vulnerable, especially late at night. Yachties make very good targets – particularly in poorer countries.
French law requires that you carry photo ID with you at all times.

Antibes’ railway station (gare SNCF) lies to the north of the old town and ports (Port Vauban and IYCA – International Yacht Club d’Antibes) at the top of Avenue Robert Soleau. However, taxis are very hard to come by, particularly at night and night buses are pretty rare. Stay Safe! Ideally set yourself up an Uber account.
Download a map of Antibes and the coast before coming out to familiarise yourself with the town, the various ports along the coast and getting from France through to ports in Italy and through to Spain.
